Roberto Martin L. Sing (b. 1988) is a professional fine artist and educator based in Mandaluyong City. Grounded in a rigorous academic framework—holding a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master of Arts in Industrial Psychology—he spent 16 years as a dedicated educator before transitioning fully into professional fine art. This extensive pedagogical background deeply informs his approach to both creating art and mentoring.
A staunch advocate for observational discipline, Roberto’s practice is rooted in traditional rendering, spanning highly refined studio compositions and dynamic on-location field studies. His diverse technical toolkit includes oil, acrylic, pastel, gouache, casein, and egg tempera. Whether capturing the atmospheric tranquility of his Cool Waters series, executing live portraiture, or exploring conceptual narratives, his work is consistently anchored by classical techniques such as chiaroscuro lighting, optical blending, and a profound reverence for structural accuracy.
His artistic foundation, shaped by early familial guidance, has been continuously refined through rigorous practice and the mentorship of senior masters within the Philippine traditional art scene. A dedicated advocate for the arts, he currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Philippine Pastel Artists, Inc., and as Secretary of Grupo Kwadro. Through his active affiliations with the Filipino Portrait Artists Guild (FILPAG) and The Outdoor Archivists, as well as his ongoing classes and private tutorials, Roberto remains committed to elevating the standards of classical observation and traditional painting.
