From childhood doodles to a lifelong pursuit, this artist’s story is one of quiet dedication to the visual arts. Born in 1988, his early love for painting was tempered by practical considerations, leading him to pursue degrees in secondary social studies education and psychology. Yet, the passion for art remained, a constant companion, finding expression in stolen moments – those quiet times when inspiration whispers and in the art appreciation courses he taught.
A turning point came in 2015 when he joined the first Mandaluyong painting competition and emerged as the champion. While the experience was rewarding, it was the renewed connection with fellow artists and the sheer joy of creating that truly resonated. This sparked a deeper commitment to honing his skills, joining art communities, and embracing opportunities to learn and grow. His focus remains on the simple act of creation, hoping to share a sense of peace and connection through his work.
His works explore themes that resonate deeply with him: the tranquil beauty of flowing waters (including his “Cool Waters” series), the strength and grace of the human form, the energy of cityscapes, and the serene expanse of landscapes. He enjoys the immediacy of live portraiture with Grupo Kwadro, as well as the challenge of capturing the fleeting light and atmosphere of plein air painting. His artistic toolkit is diverse, encompassing the rich textures of oil and acrylic, the delicate touch of pastel, and the unique qualities of gouache, casein, and even egg tempera.
He is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the art community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Philippine Pastel Artists, Inc. and as Secretary of Grupo Kwadro. He enjoys sharing his knowledge through part-time teaching, workshops, and tutorials, always eager to learn alongside other artists. Now dedicating his time fully to his art, he continues to explore, experiment, and humbly pursue his creative path.
